Monarch season coming to a close

I found this Monarch Chrysalis on my garden fencing. I was able to remove it and hang it in a safer place. It looks like it will eclose (emerge from Chrysalis) this weekend. I'm down to my last few that will be heading down to Mexico. Monarch season is coming to a close.





This is what that same chrysalis looks like today, a week after the original image was taken.



It's a boy!!  See how the vertical lines on the hind wings looks kind of like when you are drawing a straight line with a sharpie marker, but paused for a second and you get a dot...that dot is a pheromone patch that males have.
